Background: In an effort to better understand the history of Austin and God’s plans for the city, a group came together in 2005 to study A Sacred Trust, by Rev. Dr. Alistair Petrie, which Deals with the issues of theology and stewardship of the land, revival and transformation. We learned that the word “land" and the word "world" are quite different in Scripture. The word “world” refers to the cosmos, which is the spiritual realm that exists upon the land. It is within this cosmos that the structures and systems of mankind are build and developed. Depending on the nature of our stewardship upon the land, this will either result in Gods pleasure and the glory of His presence upon us – or it will give the enemy of Gods people the right of access to that area (Paul refers to this as a “foothold” – cf. Ephesians 4:17) which gives him the right to influence what takes place in the structures and systems of life within that given area. In studying where God is powerfully moving in the world, we read John Mulinde’s book, Transforming Your World, based on experiences in Uganda. One of the effective tools he outlined was having people pray for the structures/systems which are directly in their Sphere of influence. In other words, a teacher would pray for education, understanding its problems and challenges, and having authority in that system. About the same time, we heard that God had given both Bill Bright, Campus Crusade, and Loren Cunningham, YWAM, the same vision. It was of a large mountain, the Kingdom of God, with 7 smaller mountains in the foreground. These smaller mountains were named: Education, Government, Marketplace, Arts, Media/Communication, Church and Family. The instruction to these men was that it is necessary to take back each of these mountains/mind molders/gateways to establish the Kingdom of God. After prayer, we believed that God had given us a key to prayer for the city. We have been given online applications, web site design and programming, found facilitators to lead prayer in the 7 Gateways, and we are on the way to more informed, laser like precision in prayer - together. Intercession for Transforming and Healing 2 Chronicles 7:14 - If my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land. John 17:20-23 - Spiritual Unity "My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me. I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one: I in them and you in me. May they be brought to complete unity to let the world know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me. Prayer of Unity Father may we be one as You and Jesus are one. We pray to be of one accord. we pray for the Body of Christ to be healed and walk in unity. We pray that the city of Austin and the world sees You and Your love when they see us. Father, we ask You to cause us to realize we are loved in the same way You have loved Jesus! We choose to declare Your Name. And we ask that we would be filled with the same love for Jesus that You have for Jesus. We choose to Glorify You! We Proclaim Isaiah 35 and Isaiah 62 over Austin.
